The American Brain Tumor Association Hosts Path to Progress 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Soldier Field in Chicago

DES PLAINES, Ill., April 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) will again host its annual Path to Progress 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Soldier Field in Chicago.

The Path to Progress has steadily grown over the past five years, attracting nearly 4,500 runners and walkers in 2009. New this year is a 1-mile strut open to any interested participant. Proceeds from the Path to Progress benefit the American Brain Tumor Association's research funding and patient-family education and support programs.

Brain tumors do not discriminate, occurring in people of all ages. This year, nearly 63,000 Americans will be diagnosed with a primary brain tumor, and more than 250,000 with a secondary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 600,000 Americans are currently living with a brain tumor diagnosis.

"While significant progress has been made in treatment and care, a brain tumor continues to be a devastating diagnosis," said ABTA Executive Director Elizabeth Wilson. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. Path to Progress registration and information are available at www.pathtoprogress.org.  Cost: $30 for adults; $28 for CARA members; children ages 4 to 12, $10; children under age 4, free (by May 14, 2010). Early bird registration ($5 discount) ends Jan. 31, 2010.
