The American Fertility Association Announces Name Change to Path2Parenthood at Illuminations NYC

NEW YORK, Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In order to best represent their mission, The American Fertility Association announced a name change at their annual fund raiser, Illuminations NYC, this week. Citing a need to have their name better encompass their work, the organization will now operate as Path2Parenthood.

"The AFA was founded in 1999 to help couples struggling with infertility understand their options for having children. While that core focus is still of great importance to us, as times and technologies have changed, so, too, the organization has evolved. Our mission has expanded greatly and now includes extensive work on behalf of all hopeful parents, including the LGBT community, HIV-positive individuals, and members of the military, including those who have experienced catastrophic injury and chemical exposure. As Path2Parenthood, we now have a broader base through which to continue, and enhance, our very important work," says Ken Mosesian, Path2Parenthood's Executive Director. The organization's board and staff, honorary board, and councils, all remain intact and will continue to operate as they did prior to the name change.

As the inclusive, family building organization, Path2Parenthood will continue to build upon its long-standing reputation as the trusted resource for those desiring to become parents. A new online experience is being created from a clean slate. When completed in 2015, it will literally guide visitors on their unique journey (their "path") to having a child. The site will be optimized for mobile devices, and apps are being designed as well.

Leading-edge printed materials and educational handbooks such as "Combating Infertility During Military Service" will continue to be disseminated free of charge. Free events, such as the organization's heralded Gay Women's Gathering^SM series, will expand with even more locations nationally in 2015, and other events targeting a variety of populations are also planned. Path2Parenthood's video library will expand, with additional how-to topics and a new, innovative "When Your Man Has..." series. Peer-to-peer support programs, including a vibrant helpline and therapist-run telephone and in-person groups, will continue to operate nationwide.
