The Angiogenesis Foundation Launches Science of Colorectal Cancer Patient Resource at ASCO Annual Meeting 2013

CHICAGO, May 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Angiogenesis Foundation will launch its global advocacy multimedia campaign for colorectal cancer (CRC) with a new website, Science of CRC (www.scienceofcrc.org), at its exhibit at ASCO on June 1, 2013. The campaign aims to empower CRC patients and their caregivers to better understand their condition and modern treatment options, and to take a proactive role in managing their condition. Colorectal cancer is currently the third most common cancer among men and the second most common among women worldwide.

The Science of CRC is the first-of-its-kind resource that offers patients a comprehensive view of colorectal cancer diagnosis and treatment with an authoritative explanation of antiangiogenic therapy, which has become a standard of care for metastatic CRC. It also presents easy-to-understand information on the biology of colorectal cancer, the role of angiogenesis (growth of new blood vessels) in the development of the disease, and the importance of interfering with the blood supply feeding cancer cells in the metastatic form of colorectal cancer.
