The Animal Medical Center Appoints New Chief of Medicine

NEW YORK, Nov. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Animal Medical Center (AMC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard E. Goldstein, DVM, DACVIM, DECVIM-CA to the position of Chief of Medicine.  In addition to his duties within the internal medicine department, as chief of medicine Dr. Goldstein will oversee the function of many of The AMC departments, including emergency medicine and critical care, oncology, cardiology, community practice, dermatology and the rehabilitation and fitness service.

Dr. Goldstein graduated from the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine in Israel and did a residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of California at Davis.  For the last 10 years, Dr. Goldstein has been a faculty member at Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Clinical Sciences, most recently as Associate Professor of Small Animal Medicine.  He holds a dual board certification in Small Animal Internal Medicine by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine as well as the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Companion Animals.  Prior to joining the faculty at Cornell, Dr. Goldstein spent two years in a private specialty practice in Southern California.

Dr. Goldstein currently serves on the Editorial Review Board for multiple veterinary journals and is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Endocrinology Society Research Award and the Norden Distinguished Teaching Award.
