TIME recognizes TBC's breakthrough in translating discoveries from living neurons into faster and more efficient AI models.
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Biological Computing Co. (TBC), an applied biological computing company, today announced that its neuron-derived technology, behind its first AI model, has been named to TIME's Best Inventions of 2026.
TBC has built a biological discovery platform that translates how living neurons process information into technology that improves AI models running on silicon the world has deployed. The award-winning software adapter is the first commercial product to emerge from this platform, with video generation as its first application.
"The brain is the most efficient computer we know, and we're learning directly from it to build better AI," said Alex Ksendzovsky, co-founder and CEO of TBC. "Our first application in AI video generation demonstrates what's possible when we apply discoveries from living neurons to AI. And the opportunity extends far beyond video. We're building a discovery platform that can scale these advances across AI models and ultimately change how AI is designed and run."
Video generation is among the most computationally demanding applications of AI. TBC's neuron-derived technology makes existing AI video models faster and less expensive to run, using the same silicon and infrastructure customers already have.
To compile its annual Best Inventions list, TIME solicits nominations from its editors and correspondents around the world and through an online application process. Contenders are evaluated on originality, efficacy, ambition and impact.
