The Bipartisan Policy Center and The Aspen Institute To Host Second Roundtable Series on Civility

Participants will discuss ways to improve Washington's ethics process

WASHINGTON, June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) and the Aspen Institute announced today that they will host the second event in a new four-part series, Conversations on Civility: Making Our Democracy Work, on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, in Washington, DC.  The event, Washington's Ethics Wars: How We Fix the Process, will examine current and past ethics investigations.  

The discussion will feature Congressman Joel Hefley, former Chairman of the House Ethics Committee; Joseph diGenova, former Independent Counsel; Melanie Sloan, Executive Director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington; and Norm Ornstein, a member of BPC's Democracy Project and Scholar at AEI.  The discussion will be moderated by John Fortier, Director of BPC's Democracy Project.  Mickey Edwards, Vice President and Director of the Rodel Fellowships in Public Leadership at the Aspen Institute, will give opening remarks.  

BPC and the Aspen Institute created this series to discuss how to improve our democracy and civic health.  The joint series examines the breakdown of our nation's civil discourse and how this trend is affecting future political leaders.
