The Canadian Journalism Foundation announces Excellence in Journalism Award finalists
TORONTO, April 9, 2015 /CNW/ - The Canadian Journalism Foundation (CJF) is proud to announce the Excellence in Journalism Award finalists in the large media category.
The shortlist recognizes Canadian news organizations that embody exemplary journalism with a resulting impact on the community they serve.
"This year's entries reflected the range of extraordinary work done by news organizations on social, political, economic and cultural issues," says Christopher Waddell, associate professor with the School or Journalism and Communication at Carleton University and chair of the jury. "The entries also demonstrate how quickly news organizations are moving away from their traditional roles as newspapers, television and radio outlets to a multimedia work in which they are creating and presenting news and information in new and combined formats for print, broadcast online and mobile audiences."
The five finalists in the large media category (more than 50 full-time employees), and the stories for which they are nominated, are:

The winner in the large media category will be announced at the annual CJF Awards—celebrating 25 years of journalistic excellence—to be held at The Fairmont Royal York on June 3 in Toronto.
The Excellence in Journalism Award, now in its 19th year, was established by Dr. F.L.R. (Eric) Jackman, chairman of the Jackman Foundation and founder of The Canadian Journalism Foundation.
