The Center for Public Policy Innovation Publishes First Special Report on Restoring U.S. Competitiveness
Immigration and Corporate Tax Policies Among Key Drivers to U.S. Economic Vitality
WASHINGTON, Sept. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, the Center for Public Policy Innovation (CPPI), a not-for-profit educational think tank, published its first special report entitled, "Restoring U.S. Competitiveness: Navigating a Path Forward Through Innovation and Entrepreneurship," which identified several key issues and outlined policy changes that could help restore the nation's competitiveness, foster innovation, and spur job creation in the United States. The report follows CPPI's June 16th Public Policy Forum, which brought leading industry, academic, and government stakeholders together to explore policy issues in the areas of immigration and education reform, federal funding for research and development, barriers to entrepreneurship, and corporate tax reform.
"Restoring U.S. competitiveness and the economic vitality of our nation is surely one of the most important public policy challenges we face today," CPPI President Chris Long said. "The June event was the first in a series of important policy discussions that will bring together strong leadership and promote collaboration between the public and private sectors. This undertaking and the CPPI report we are releasing today shines a bright light on key policies and programs that are needed to help restore America's economic competitiveness."
CPPI's special report illuminates four key areas – Encouraging Innovation by Removing Barriers to Entrepreneurship, The Importance of Immigration and Education Reform to the Workforce of Tomorrow, The Value of Government-Funded Research and Development, and The Impact of Corporate Tax Incentives on American Competitiveness. The report identifies policy changes that could help restore our nation's competitiveness in the world economy, such as financial reforms, workforce issues, and tax-related items, among other changes. CPPI's special report on restoring U.S. competitiveness can be downloaded from the organization's web site at www.cppionline.org.
CPPI plans to hold a series of public policy events and report on the findings from these forums to spotlight topics that affect the global competitiveness of American businesses. CPPI's "Restoring U.S. Competitiveness" series will foster collaboration and seek consensus on a range of issues that impact domestic growth and economic vitality. The next event, to be held later this fall, will examine the topics of cloud computing and government efficiency.
