The Cubano Bowl features a savory mix of mesquite chicken on a heap of rice and beans, topped with tostones (fried plantains), mango salsa, avocado, sour cream and cilantro, then drizzled with a made-from-scratch Havana Sauce. Adding a smoky and sweet element to the mix, the Havana Sauce blends BBQ sauce with the flavors of lime juice, orange juice, crushed chili peppers, tomatoes and Mexican spices and herbs. Suggested price for the dish starts at $8.79, and prices vary by location.
During the Elito 8 competition, eight teams representing previous menu items battled for the ultimate prize: to become California Tortilla's next limited-time offer. Fierce competitors included the Flamin' Gator, Ramen Burrito, Chicken Teriyaki and the Mediterranean Bowl. No upsets here with over 4,400 votes racked-up in just three days, customers determined the Cubano Bowl as the clear winner, with one lucky voter won free burritos for a year.
