One Family. Three Generations. A Singular Mission — Providing Free Dementia Support to Sarasota and Manatee Counties.
SARASOTA, Fla., Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- For three generations, the Lieberman family has shared one unwavering commitment: ensuring no family faces the isolation of dementia alone. Today, that commitment is coming to Sarasota.
This story began more than 30 years ago in Ft. Myers with the first generation, Zelda Dubin. As an early champion of what was then the Alzheimer's Resource Center of Southwest Florida, Zelda helped build the foundation of an organization that provides education, resilience, and hope to families navigating dementia-related illnesses. The organization was later named The Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer's Resource Center of Southwest Florida, after her husband, in honor of her family's dedication.
Now, the second and third generations of the family — Zelda's nephew Larry Lieberman, along with his wife Nicci, and Ryan Lieberman, Zelda's great nephew — are bringing that legacy to their own backyard.
The Dubin Center has expanded its free dementia caregiver support services into Sarasota and Manatee counties this year. The expansion was made possible through the generosity of the Larry and Nicci Lieberman Philanthropic Fund.
"As residents of Sarasota, Nicci and I recognized that many of our own neighbors were struggling to find these specific resources," said Larry Lieberman. "We felt a responsibility to bring the organization my aunt Zelda helped build in Ft. Myers to the community we know and love. It's an honor to continue her legacy and ensure Sarasota and Manatee families have a place to turn for help."
The commitment to the region is further solidified by the third generation, Ryan Lieberman. Also a Sarasota resident, Ryan is dedicated to spearheading the expansion and ensuring The Dubin Center remains a pillar of support for local families well into the future.
"This expansion is a powerful story of legacy and community," said Christine LoConte, Chief Executive Officer of The Dubin Center. "It started with Zelda's vision in Ft. Myers, and now, because Larry, Nicci, and Ryan are so rooted in Sarasota, they are ensuring that same compassion reaches their own neighbors. Seeing three generations work together to grow this mission is a remarkable testament to the belief that no caregiver should ever have to face this journey alone."
Sarasota and Manatee families now have access to The Dubin Center's signature free services, including:
For the Lieberman family, this expansion isn't just about growth — it's about a family promise kept across three generations.
