The Geneia Institute and Villanova Team Up to Meet Accelerating Demand for Care Coordinators
HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Geneia Institute and Villanova University College of Nursing today announced a new, co-provided program to educate nurses and social workers to become effective care coordinators. Care coordinators – clinicians who work closely with the patient and their health care team to increase patient satisfaction, improve health outcomes, and control costs – are in demand more than ever as the number of accountable care organizations (ACOs) and patient-centered medical homes (PCMHs) increases.

The Geneia Institute – Villanova University College of Nursing program, Coordinating Care in a Fragmented System, will provide clinicians with expert training and the skills to help their organizations transition successfully to ACOs, PCMHs and other risk-sharing arrangements. The program, which begins on Saturday, March 8th with an all-day session and combines in-person and online learning, will teach clinicians new to population health how to effectively manage populations.

Coordinating Care in a Fragmented System will meet in-person on the Villanova campus on Saturday, March 8th and Saturday, April 5th, and students will work online for five consecutive weeks beginning the week of March 10th. Students can earn up to 39 contact hours for successfully completing the program.
