The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Announces the Agenda for Its Third Annual Business Expo - Connections, Opportunities and Growth
THURSDAY, MARCH 15TH AT THE WALTER E. WASHINGTON CONVENTION CENTER
WASHINGTON, March 14, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) announces its agenda for its 2012 Business Expo – Connections, Opportunities and Growth, featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony, business meetings throughout the day and a networking reception to conclude the event.
More than a hundred companies and organizations will be exhibiting at the Expo and more than 1,200 attendees are expected to come to the event throughout the day. "The Chamber, its board of directors, sponsors and members are looking forward to our annual business expo tomorrow," affirmed Angela Franco, GWHCC President & CEO. "The GWHCC team has put a lot of effort into providing this unique opportunity for businesses to connect and explore growth opportunities at the local, national and international level. All businesses and entrepreneurs are welcome to attend, as well as those who want to get involved with Hispanic markets or businesses."
Registration for the Expo will start at 10:00am in preparation for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30am, which will be attended by political leaders including Maryland Congressman Christopher Van Hollen, Ana Harvey, SBA Assistant Administrator, Office of Women's Business Ownership, Vincent Gray, Mayor of the District of Columbia, among many other important leaders in the metropolitan area.
Beginning at 11:00am, the Expo will feature panels where business experts and government officials will engage attendees and address important topics to provide advice to entrepreneurs on how to grow their businesses. These topics include local and federal government contracting, Hispanic media in the U.S., international business opportunities, and technology and social media best practices for small businesses. Business Matchmaking sessions will take place from 3:00 – 5:00pm. These sessions are one-on-one meetings between suppliers and buyers. There are currently 60 registered suppliers and twenty buyers that have signed up including American Red Cross, Amtrak, Clark Construction, Freddie Mac, US Agency for International Development (USAID), Federal Reserve Board, NASA, US Navy, US Army, US General Services Administration (GSA), Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), Events DC and Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA).
The expo will conclude with a networking reception from 5:30 – 7:30pm that will bring together GWHCC members, friends, and supporters. The reception will feature a Latin Jazz band and local Hispanic restaurants including Cuba Libre, El Ceibo Chocolates, La Sandia, Taberna del Alabardero, Rumba Cafe and Zengo will showcase their food.
