Babe Ruth: His Life and Legend opened today at America's baseball shrine in Cooperstown, New York, marking the 100^th anniversary of his big league debut. "The Bambino" is a member of the Hall of Fame's inaugural Class of 1936, and the new exhibit features a completely new look at a player whose standards and accomplishments in the game still stand today.

The Hanover's connection to The Babe dates to 1920, when the company insured his Packard roadster. The Hanover's prompt service that year inspired Ruth to write the following letter, which appeared in the New York Tribune on October 29, 1920: I thank you for the quick action and efficient manner in which you handled matters relative to the recent accident to my Packard roadster... I cheerfully recommend the type of service you are giving. Yours truly, Babe Ruth.  A copy of that letter is included in the new museum exhibit.
