The Historic Washington International Horse Show Returns to the D.C. Area This Month
The 67th Annual Event is Back in the Saddle this October 20-26
UPPER MARLBORO, Md., Oct. 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The 67th Annual Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), presented by MARS Equestrian™, is set to return from October 20-26, 2025, at The Show Place Arena at Prince George's Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
Recognized as one of North America's leading equestrian events, this year's edition showcases an impressive roster of world-class horses and riders, along with a week packed with elite competition, entertainment, and family-friendly fun.

Event Highlights Include:
- WIHS Opening Night Honoring the Military – Thursday, October 23, 7 PM: Honoring the U.S. Armed Forces, the evening program kicks off with the $63,000 International Jumper Welcome Stake and the $63,000 Stars and Stripes Speed Stake. Each horse-and-rider pair will jump an American flag–themed obstacle in the Speed Stake, with every clear effort raising funds for Tragedy Assistance program for Survivors (TAPS), which supports families grieving the loss of military or veteran loved ones. In between jumping classes, a hilarious mascot race featuring the Washington Nationals' Racing Presidents, WIHS mascot, Major, and M-NCPPC's mascot, Fun, will take place. Military members and first responders are eligible for 50% ticket discounts at the box office or Military Ticket Offices.
- MARS Barn Night, presented by Walkenbach Equestrian – Friday, October 24, 7 PM: Enjoy an action-packed evening as international jumpers take on the $63,000 Welcome Stake and the fan-favorite $32,000 Accumulator Costume Class, known for its festive, fast-paced fun. Riders will swap traditional show attire for creative costumes inspired by the "Wild for WIHS" theme. The excitement continues with the WIHS Shetland Steeplechase Races and Sylvia Zerbini's Grande Liberté.
- World Cup Night – Saturday, October 25, 6:30 PM: The prestigious $340,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Washington CSI5-W for the President's Cup*, presented by Maryland Sports Commission, highlights the grand finale of WIHS, featuring nine of the world's top 25 riders, including World No. 1 and U.S. Olympic silver medalist Kent Farrington, along with 13 Olympians from 13 countries. The evening will also crown the WIHS Equitation Finals champion, recognizing the nation's top junior rider.
- WIHS Kids' Day Presented by Delta Air Lines – Saturday, October 26, 10 AM-2 PM: A free event packed with educational and fun activities for children, including crafts, pony rides, a grooming station, face painting, a horseless horse show, and a pony kissing booth, followed by a free performance of Sylvia Zerbini's Grande Liberté with her 12 Arabian horses in the covered arena.
