SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In its ongoing commitment to advancing communications education and expanding access to higher learning, The Hoffman Agency is now accepting applications for its HBCU Scholarship program for the 2026–2027 academic year. Now in its fourth year, the scholarship recognizes students transferring from California Community Colleges to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), covering two years of tuition and fees for those pursuing degrees in communications or related fields.
The program underscores The Hoffman Agency's commitment to cultivating diverse voices in the communications industry while easing financial barriers that limit educational opportunities to support the next generation of communications leaders.
"Advancing diversity across the communications profession is at the heart of our mission," said Lou Hoffman, CEO at The Hoffman Agency. "Through our HBCU partnership, we support talented students, raise awareness of careers in communications, and invest in the future of our industry, where diverse perspectives and well-trained voices are essential."
Interest in the scholarship continues to grow. In the 2024 cycle, the large number of applicants led the agency to award two scholarships. Last year, recipients transferred from Bakersfield College and American River College to pursue degrees at Morehouse College and Tennessee State University, respectively.
For past recipients, the scholarship has provided the opportunity for their growth in the communications field. Ezra Lee, student recipient of the 2024 scholarship states, "The HBCU scholarship provided by the Hoffman Agency has given me so many opportunities. To be able to go to an HBCU of my choosing and not have to worry about financial insecurities is a blessing. The experience that I've gained when it comes to my desired career field and the people I've met I don't think I would have gotten anywhere else."
Working in tandem with the California Community College Chancellor's Office, The Hoffman Agency is broadening its outreach across the state to ensure more students are aware of and able to access this opportunity.
"The Hoffman Agency's scholarship underscores our commitment to the transformative power of education. It creates pathways into the communications field and has the potential to change the course of a recipient's life." Dr. Helen P. Young, Assistant Project Director at the California Community College Chancellor's Office, commented. "By investing in emerging talent, we're helping to shape the future of our industry while advancing diversity and fostering innovation."
Applications are currently open. Apply or locate additional information here. The application closes March 31, 2026.
