David H. Lifschutz, MD, FAPA, has dedicated more than 50 years to psychiatry and clinical psychopharmacology, providing compassionate and individualized care to adolescents and adults. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Lifschutz has developed extensive expertise in trauma treatment, ketamine assisted psychotherapy, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, attachment disorders, and aviation related mental health.

In his clinical practice, Dr. Lifschutz treats patients age 13 and older through comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, psychotherapy, and clinical psychopharmacology. His approach incorporates innovative, evidence informed treatments designed to help individuals process trauma, strengthen emotional resilience, and achieve lasting personal growth. He has particular expertise in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, known as AEDP, as well as ketamine assisted psychotherapy.

Dr. Lifschutz also has significant experience working with pilots through FAA and HIMS related mental health cases. As a private pilot with an instrument rating and more than 500 flight hours, he brings a unique understanding of the demands associated with aviation. His work has included helping pilots address addiction, panic attacks, and emotional challenges, including successfully assisting a young pilot experiencing cockpit panic attacks.

Dr. Lifschutz earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health after completing undergraduate studies in philosophy and premedical sciences at the University of Wisconsin Madison. He completed a rotating internship, psychiatric residency, and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry through the University of Southern California and Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. He later completed seven years of psychoanalytic training through the NYU Postdoctoral Program for Psychoanalysis.

Board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Lifschutz is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. His professional affiliations also include the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, American Society for Adolescent Psychiatry, and American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. As an attending staff psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital, he has also contributed to medical education by supervising psychiatry residents.
