KENSINGTON, Conn., Oct. 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Prominently featured in The Inner Circle, Donna M. Brester, MSN, RN, CCRN, NPDS is acknowledged as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member for her contributions as a Compassionate Caregiver and Advocate in Critical Nursing Care.
Donna M. Brester, MSN, RN, CCRN, NPDS, is a respected critical care nurse whose dedication to patient care, patient and nursing education, and mentorship has made a lasting impact on the pediatric nursing community. With a career rooted in compassion and clinical excellence, Donna recently served as a Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS) at a Level 1 Trauma and teaching hospital, where she advocates for patients and provides skilled, immediate care during life-changing moments for families and pediatric patients alike.
A graduate of Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing, Donna began her journey with a strong commitment to bedside care. Her extensive hands-on experience in critical care became the foundation for her advanced studies, earning both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing Education from Western Governors University. Her passion for guiding the next generation led her to serve as a nurse educator with YNHHS, supporting the onboarding of new pediatric nurses and introducing updated and new procedures and care protocols within the Children's Hospital.
Donna's professional affiliations include the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, American Nurses Association, Society of Pediatric Nurses, and the Connecticut Nurses Association. She volunteers each summer at Camp Rising Sun, a camp for children and their siblings with cancer, and remains active in her local faith community at Christian Life Church in Kensington, CT.
She credits Denine Baxter, MSN, RN, Catherine Piasio, BSN, RN, and the late Judy Nichols, MSN, RN, as instrumental mentors who helped shape her nursing career and approach to leadership. Outside of nursing, Donna and her husband enjoy spending time with their grandchildren, family and friends as well as, training German Shepherds in a variety of dog sports — an activity that reflects her dedication, discipline, and love for working closely with others.
Looking ahead, Donna is continuing to develop nursing students within academia within the state of CT, while actively seeking new leadership opportunities in pediatric nursing. She is also open for remote leadership positions within the healthcare industry. She remains committed to patient advocacy, clinical excellence, and mentoring future nurses to continue raising the standard of care in pediatric health.
