The John M. O'Quinn Foundation Announces $1 Million in Grants for Houston-Area Nonprofits
HOUSTON, Dec. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The John M. O'Quinn Foundation is pleased to announce the award of $1,090,000 in grants to more than a dozen Houston-based nonprofit organizations, including groups that provide health care, educational services and other assistance for at-risk children and families.
The largest of the December 2011 grants include $500,000 for The Children's Assessment Center in Houston, $180,000 for First Baptist Church in Pollock, La., and $100,000 for The Joy School in Houston.
Other grant recipients include Arrow Child & Family Ministries; Clayton Dabney Foundation for Kids; Dress for Success; Legacy Community Health Services; March of Dimes; Mental Health America of Greater Houston; The Menninger Clinic; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Pathways for Little Feet; Texas Heart Institute; and Yellowstone Academy.

The John M. O'Quinn Foundation provides grants on a quarterly basis, and has awarded $2,978,500 to nonprofits in 2011. Other organizations receiving 2011 grants include Bridges to Life; Camp Aranzazu; CanCare; Chinquapin School; Cornerstone Recovery; Council on Alcohol & Drugs Houston; Crime Stoppers of Houston; Cristo Ray Jesuit College Preparatory School; DePelchin Children's Center; Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance; Donald B. Cowan Legacy Choir; Foundation for Teen Health; Hope Stone Inc.; Houston Center for Photography; inZONE Foundation; Memorial Hermann Foundation; Monarch Institute for Neurological Differences; Sam Houston Area Council of Boy Scouts of America; San Jacinto Battleground Association; Sight Into Sound; St. Martin's Episcopal Church; University of St. Thomas; University of Texas Health Science Center; and University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
