The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada Names Shelagh Tippet-Fagyas its New President

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., March 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society today announced that its Canadian affiliate, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC), has named Shelagh Tippet-Fagyas as its new president, effective today.

Tippet-Fagyas will lead LLSC in its efforts to find cures and ensure access to therapies for all blood cancer patients in Canada. She will be working with the LLSC Board of Directors, reporting to Gilles Legault, chair of the board, of Montreal, Quebec.

"Shelagh has a proven track record of achievement in fund development, strategic planning, and building relationships with potential donors, internal and external stakeholders for national health charities," said Legault. "We look forward to the leadership skills she will bring to LLSC, its board of directors, senior management and staff in her key role."

Most recently Tippet-Fagyas was a principal consultant for UrbanKinistics Consulting Group, where she provided strategy and fundraising counsel in the social service, health, and education sectors. She previously served as the national vice president, revenue development for The Arthritis Society. Her vast executive and senior management background also include experience with the Alzheimer Society of Ontario, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada, Canadian MedicAlert Foundation and ParticipACTION.

Tippet-Fagyas earned her bachelor's degree and master's of science in applied health from the University of Waterloo in Ontario. She is a graduate of the executive business development program, Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario, and the executive marketing program, Queens University, Kingston, Ontario.
