The Lodge & Spa at Brush Creek Ranch Launches Wingshooting Adventures

SARATOGA, Wyo., Aug. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lodge & Spa at Brush Creek Ranch, a Preferred Boutique Hotel and Orvis-endorsed fly fishing lodge, announced today the addition of a wingshooting program to the already extensive activities offered at this all-inclusive destination resort. Beginning this month, guests can experience the thrill of a guided, private hunt for pheasant or chukars with the Ranch's team of National Champion bird dogs, as well as tower continental hunts from the Ranch's brand new shooting tower. The new wingshooting adventures, in combination with the outstanding fly fishing, state-of-the-art Gun Club and myriad of other outdoor activities as well as luxurious accommodations and gourmet dining, make The Lodge & Spa at Brush Creek Ranch an outdoor enthusiast's vacation paradise.

Designed and led by professional bird dog trainer, Joey DeGross, the new offering allows guests the opportunity to see firsthand some of the finest retrievers and spaniels in Wyoming go into action. Classic Walking Hunts, suitable for beginners and experts alike, typically consist of two hunters with a private guide and pair of dogs, and a journey out into the vast private Wyoming landscape for a wingshooting challenge across meadowlands and high desert.  In the Pheasant Continental Tower Hunt, 10 to 20 hunters are situated in one of ten blinds surrounding a natural stone tower from which pheasants are released in waves. The blinds are in varied open and wooded terrain, giving each hunter a variety of shooting situations over the course of the hunt. Hunters are rotated after each round so that each hunter will get a chance to shoot from ten different shooting positions.  The degree of shooting skill required varies from blind to blind.
