The National Inventors Hall Of Fame To Induct 15 Luminaries Who Are Driving Innovation Forward

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Inventors Hall of Fame^®, in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), will host the Greatest Celebration of American Innovation on May 3-4 in our Nation's Capital. Events will recognize and celebrate 15 pioneers who have significantly contributed to society through their scientific breakthroughs and patented innovations, culminating in a formal Induction Ceremony on May 4.

This year's class of Inductees includes innovators such as Iver Anderson (Lead-Free Solder), Marshall Jones (Industrial Lasers), Frances Ligler (Portable Optical Biosensors), and Howard Head (Laminate Ski; Oversized Tennis Racket), just to name a few. The two-day event will feature:

• Illumination Ceremony, May 3, 2017: The Ceremony will take place at the National Inventors Hall of Fame Museum at the United States Patent and Trademark Office Headquarters in Alexandria, Va. This intimate event gives the 2017 Inductee class the opportunity to place their personalized, illuminated hexagons into the Gallery of Icons™ exhibit, forever commemorating their Induction into the Hall of Fame. This private event is not open to the public.
• 45^th Annual National Inventors Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, May 4, 2017: This black-tie affair will be held at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. Mo Rocca, CBS Sunday Morning Correspondent and host of The Henry Ford's Innovation Nation, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.

o   The general reception begins at 6:30 p.m. with the formal dinner and awards Ceremony beginning promptly at 7 p.m. The night will culminate with an Innovation Celebration After Party at 9:30 p.m., where guests will have the opportunity to engage with the 2017 Inductees.
