The National Police Association Joins Attorney General's Summit to Champion Crime Victims and Support Law Enforcement

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Police Association (NPA) participated in the Attorney General's Summit on Victims of Violent Crime on September 24, 2026, joining victims, surviving family members, and national leaders in advancing a public safety obligation: protecting innocent Americans and supporting the officers who defend them.

Led by Attorney General Todd Blanche, the summit brought the devastating human consequences of violent crime directly before federal leadership. Attorney Thomas Kenniff represented the NPA, hearing firsthand from families whose experiences underscored the need for stronger enforcement, accountability, and a justice system that places victims at the center of its mission.

Kenniff described the gathering as "very powerful, very moving and extremely heart-wrenching," particularly the accounts shared by Angel Families. He said their stories illustrated the consequences of Biden administration immigration policies and permissive release policies, and the anguish of Americans who believe their government failed to protect their loved ones.

"It was very hard to sit in the front row amongst these individuals that have suffered such loss and hear them try to process how our government has failed them at every level," Kenniff said.

Participants emphasized that public safety requires both holding violent offenders accountable and giving officers the support necessary to carry out their responsibilities.

Kenniff reported that Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel, and White House Border Czar Tom Homan conveyed a shared commitment to backing law enforcement.

Kenniff also highlighted discussion of unequal enforcement that, in his assessment, protects offenders at the expense of officers and law-abiding citizens. For the NPA, that concern reinforces the importance of fair treatment for police and protecting them from anti-police DAs who charge them criminally for doing their jobs, such as in the recent matter of former NYPD officer Omar Habib.

During his meeting with Blanche, Kenniff reported that the Attorney General was receptive and thanked the NPA for participating.

The NPA supports the summit's emphasis on listening to survivors and translating their experiences into action. Honoring victims requires enforcing the law, confronting policies that leave communities vulnerable, and standing behind officers working to prevent the next loss of life.
