The Northern California Chapter of the International Interior Design Association Announces its 2016 Philanthropy Theme of "Design for Dignity"

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Interior Design Association Northern California chapter (IIDA NC), a professional organization comprised of over 900 design professionals, has announced its 2016 Philanthropy theme of "Design for Dignity." With a goal of impacting the community through organizations that are doing work for humanity, IIDA NC has selected Larkin Street Youth Services, an organization with comprehensive youth service programs located throughout San Francisco, as its official philanthropy partner.
"IIDA Northern California is the preeminent organization for commercial interior design," said Fae Urban, president of the IIDA NC chapter. "We bring our Northern California design community together – comprised of interior designer, contractors, furniture manufacturers, dealers and more– in service to demonstrate through philanthropic efforts, that design has the power to transform both the physical built environment and the human spirit."
With humanitarian efforts as a core value of the IIDA NC, partnering with Larkin Street Youth Services was a natural decision. Both organizations are passionate about providing today's youth with the tools they need to build a better future. Similarly, in 2015, the theme of 'Design for the Future' was geared towards impacting the future generation and working with a variety of projects and organizations related to the design community. Overall, the IIDA NC contributed $80,000 to various causes through its philanthropy efforts including:
"While many of the chapter's members are responsible for the innovative design of workspaces in the San Francisco Bay Area, it's our role as Philanthropists that is the most impactful and rewarding," said Kelly Dubisar, VP of philanthropy of the IIDA NC. "We were thrilled by last year's impact working with Project Color Corps, a local nonprofit founded by product strategist and colorist Laura Guido-Clark."
The largest of the donation Project Color Corp believes in the power of color as a change agent to infuse a sense of well-being and energy into urban neighborhoods nationwide. The organization is dedicated to creating change by painting inner city neighborhoods with color and pattern that impart positive messages of optimism and hope. Project Color Corps believes that color is transformational and that fresh paint has the power to improve the quality of life for children and residents of at risk, disadvantaged and underserved communities.
