PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- LegitScript, a business that focuses on cybercrime, healthcare, and regulatory compliance, has been awarded a 2016 Top Workplaces honor by The Oregonian. The award is based on employee feedback, and measures factors such as employee happiness, job satisfaction, and how employees feel about the company's mission.
LegitScript's mission is to make the internet a safer, more transparent place. To that end, the company monitors websites and merchants that sell regulated or illegal products, such as prescription drugs, designer drugs, tobacco, and gambling, and helps its customers determine which are operating legally and which are not in compliance with the customer's policies and may be unsafe or illegal. LegitScript clients include Google, Visa, Bing, Facebook, the US Food and Drug Administration, and the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
"We want to make LegitScript a fun and meaningful place to work, and we've spent a lot of time thinking through our values and our culture," said John Horton, LegitScript CEO. "Ultimately, though, our employees get the credit – after all, how can a workplace be awesome without cool, committed people who make coming to work every day fun?"
LegitScript's staff applauded LegitScript's designation as a Top Workplace. "Awesome co-workers from all over the world, an in-house barista, AND a cool office that welcomes dogs! What's not to love? The work is unique and LegitScript rocks!" said Madison Swofford, one of the company's cybercrime analysts.
LegitScript's employees also appreciate the company's mission and leadership. "LegitScript is not just a job; it's a mission. It's good to do work that you can put your conscience into," said Ben Forsberg, a software developer with the company. "Also, our leadership is alert, and interested in understanding what you do for the company, without telling you how to do it."
The company currently employs about 65 people — analysts, developers, lawyers, and support staff — most of whom work at the Portland, Oregon, headquarters. The company is currently hiring for several positions.
