In 1984, The Original Soupman opened its doors at 55th Street and 8th Avenue in Manhattan and quickly became a worldwide destination.  With increased awareness from Seinfeld and celebrity equity partners including Shaquille O'Neal, Reggie Jackson and Jason Alexander, millions of visitors came to the store to try the innovative soups, but they were not available in grocery stores because they couldn't emulate the recipes to work in a can or frozen aisle.
