LEXINGTON, Ky., March 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MEP Equine Solutions today announced that they have received a $100,000 Small Business Innovation Research Phase I grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The grant, which targets animal production and protection, introduces technology to perform a simple on-site test to allow veterinarians and animal owners to diagnose the presence of parasites using smartphone technology. The Parasight System provides quantitative results in less than five minutes and emails imaged test results with egg count/ type and treatment recommendation to veterinarians and animal owners.

The Parasight System is a smartphone based fecal egg diagnostic and intestinal parasite management tool for veterinarians. This on-site veterinarian based test kit uses smartphone technology to provide rapid, quantitative fecal egg counts in livestock, horses, and companion animals, and aggregates anonymous data for parasite trends. Quantitative imaged results are emailed to veterinarian and animal owner via the Parasight App in less than 5 minutes.

Parasight System's "SIGHT" proprietary technology is used to identify fecal egg type and counts in a matter of minutes. Imaged results and counts are delivered to owner and veterinarian smartphones. Parasight System technology differentiates egg types by size and shape in a variety of animal species: equine, bovine, ovine, caprine, feline, and canine.
