Furniture retailer creates more than 100 new jobs for the community in state-of-the-art facility
INDIANAPOLIS, June 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The RoomPlace held a grand opening ceremony today to commemorate the new showroom and warehouse distribution center located at 8301 E. Washington St. The location is part of a strategic initiative to expand the furniture retailers' Indianapolis footprint to better serve the growing demand and demonstrate a commitment to revitalizing the local community.
The location also marks The RoomPlace's 25th store, with locations across Illinois and Indiana, and brings the company's employee total to more than 700. The store will be one of the company's largest, measuring in at over 70,000 sq. ft. and features a 16,000 sq. ft. clearance center. The new location will also house a 100,000 sq. ft. distribution center allowing The RoomPlace to service the Indianapolis area more efficiently.

Prior to The RoomPlace purchasing the former Levitz Furniture building last May, it had been vacant for over 15 years. The property is owned by Sandor, one of the nation's largest privately held shopping center developers in the nation. Sandor founder and chief executive officer, Sidney Eskenazi, brokered the deal with The RoomPlace, which was part of a larger partnership between the two companies. Last summer The RoomPlace donated $150,000 to Eskenazi Health in support of the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital and Eskenazi Health campus.
