The Royal Thai Consulate-General Celebrates Thai New Year and NYC Thai Restaurant Week With A Street Festival and Trip Giveaways To Thailand
Songkran Street Festival on Saturday, April 29, 2017, in Elmhurst, Queens
NEW YORK, April 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Thai Community in New York in conjunction with The Royal Thai Consulate-General in New York, Tourism Authority of Thailand New York and the Thai Restaurant Chamber of Commerce of New York, are celebrating the end of the Songkran Festival (Thai New Year) and Thai Restaurant Week with a street fair in little Thailand, Woodside, Queens, April 29, 2017. Open to the public from 12-6 PM, the event caps off the week-long NYC Thai Restaurant Week and Songkran Thai New Year Festival. Saturday's events will feature:
- Thai cultural performances
- Muay Thai showcase
- A Beer Garden by Chang Beer
- Best Thai Traditional Outfit Competition
- Thai street food booths
- An exhibition featuring works by Thai artists
- A special exhibit celebrating the life and development work of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand
In addition to various cultural activities, attendees of the festival will have an opportunity to win flights to Thailand provided by Norwegian Air, visit the Pop-up Chang Beer Garden, and sample some of the best Thai cuisine in New York City from Pinto Garden, Topaz and Thai Select.
To give participants the opportunity to experience Thailand first-hand, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in New York has partnered with Norwegian Air to provide complimentary flights for a few lucky winners. For a chance to win two round-trip tickets to Thailand on Norwegian Airlines, attendees of the Songkran Street Festival are invited to post a photo on Instagram using the hashtags #SongkranFestival and #FlyNorwegian. Diners experiencing Thai Restaurant Week should check-in by adding location at a participating restaurant on Instagram and post a photo of their dish using the hashtags #ThaiRestaurantWeek and #FlyNorwegian. Winning entries will be selected by the organizing committee.
