The SASB Foundation Announces Appointment of New Director

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The SASB Foundation, an independent 501(c)3 non-profit that is responsible for the funding and oversight of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), today announced the appointment of Rudolf (Rudi) Bless to its board of directors. Bless will serve a 3-year term that begins January 1, 2018.

Rudi Bless is the chief accounting officer at Bank of America and leads its Global Financial Control organization. Prior to Bank of America, Bless was deputy chief financial officer and chief accounting officer of Credit Suisse AG. Prior to Credit Suisse, Bless spent 20 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York, Frankfurt and Zurich. He was a partner for eight years and focused on clients in the financial services area.

"Rudi's deep knowledge in accounting and financial services will be instrumental to the SASB Foundation as it promotes use of the standards that will be launched in early 2018," said Mary Schapiro, Co-Vice Chair of the SASB Foundation Board. Bless's appointment comes at a pivotal point of market consultation for the SASB. The organization is soliciting feedback in a 90-day public comment period, the penultimate step in the SASB's long march toward launching the standards next year. The SASB's rigorous process has involved evidence-based research, stakeholder consultation, multiple points of public feedback, and expert-led oversight. The comment period will be open through December 31, 2017.
