The Society For Information Display And IHS Conferences Announce Collaboration On Business Conference And Market Focus Conference Series At Display Week 2013

CAMPBELL, Calif., March 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Society for Information Display (SID), the leading global organization dedicated to the advancement of electronic display technology, in collaboration with IHS Conferences, today unveiled the program for its Business Conference and Market Focus Conference Series taking place May 20-23 during Display Week 2013 (May 19-24) in Vancouver, Canada.  The Business Conference will take an integrated view assessing the current health of the industry, while the Market Focus Conference Series will specifically concentrate on two critical segments—touch and high-performance display technologies.  The conferences will feature high-level speakers and panelists from key players in the industry.

This marks the third year in a row that SID is collaborating with IMS Research, now part of IHS Inc.  This year's conferences promise to provide Display Week attendees with a fresh perspective from industry leaders and market analysts on the hottest and most recent innovations in displays.  Aside from learning about important trends and hearing ideas about options for different aspects of the display industry, there will be superb networking opportunities for participants during breaks and receptions.

Business Conference (Monday, May 20)

The Business Conference will provide a unique perspective on the health of the display industry from both an industry and a financial perspective.  The presentations will provide up-to-date information on the supply chains in major product categories, such as television and mobile devices.  Moreover, seasoned industry observers will examine ways to improve the health of the industry.  This conference will feature major keynote addresses from industry leaders, presentations from a variety of industry participants, and a lively panel session to debate the perspectives presented during the conference.

Touch Gesture Motion Conference (Wednesday, May 22)

Interactive display technologies are one of the most intriguing aspects of the display industry, enabling completely new usage models in multiple applications.  Specifically, the Touch Gesture Motion Conference will concentrate on next-generation touch, gesture and motion-based technologies applicable to the display industry.  While SID's technical symposium will focus on the technologies of touch and gestures, this Market Focus Conference will provide perspective on how these technologies and overall product trends will translate to new business opportunities.  The conference will give attendees the opportunity to hear from companies at the forefront of touch such as Ocular, Intel, Touch International, UICO and Helios Interactive, among others.  To hone in on many of our senses, portions of the conference will include demonstrations from leading-edge innovators. 

High-Performance Displays (Thursday, May 23)

A new topic for the Market Focus Conference Series, the High-Performance Displays Conference will focus on the "visual interface"—the performance characteristics of displays that enable differentiable improvements for the user's visual experience.  This session will put an emphasis on the technologies and content necessary to promote improved performance and enable delegates to consider various performance trade-offs related to the future of vision-based devices.  Various display technologies inherently have differing advantages and disadvantages when it comes to display performance, so this conference will concentrate on opportunities for both display makers and device manufacturers to truly differentiate their product offerings.  Rather than focusing on what emerging technologies will drive the market, this event will focus on the capabilities of the human visual system to drive technological innovation.  Special emphasis will be placed on high resolution and deep color implementations that are coming to market.
