Three $5,000 awards available nationwide; applications open through November 30; company operates six Mississippi locations in the Jackson metro and on the Gulf Coast
BILOXI, Miss., Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Mississippi college students have until November 30 to apply for the Fall 2026 Space to Succeed Scholarship from The Storage Center, which operates six facilities in the state across the Jackson metro and the Gulf Coast, including a new location on Popp's Ferry Road in Biloxi that opened this month. Three students nationwide will each receive a $5,000 award in recognition of measurable, self-initiated community leadership.
Now in its fourth cycle, the Space to Succeed Scholarship has granted $45,000 to nine students since launching in spring 2025. Past recipients include a Texas A&M student who has collected more than 9,500 coats for families in need, an LSU Eunice nursing student and mother of four, and a University of Alabama in Huntsville student whose stroke-awareness initiative has raised more than $10,000 and helped save six lives. The Spring 2026 cycle drew more than 2,000 applications from across the country.
"Our teams in Jackson, Flowood, Pearl, Ocean Springs, and now Biloxi see every day what it looks like when someone decides to take care of the people around them," said Robert Piper, Principal at The Storage Center. "The Space to Succeed Scholarship is how we try to do the same for the students doing that work. We would love to see a Mississippi student among this year's recipients, and if you have been building something for your community, we want to hear about it."
The scholarship is open to students who are 18 years or older, legal U.S. residents, and enrolled in an accredited U.S. college, university, or community college. Applicants submit a 500- to 800-word essay that describes their commitment to community service, explains how their education will help them expand their impact, and includes specific examples of service, leadership, or advocacy work. A headshot and a photo of the applicant's community work are also required. Applications are free and must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. CT on November 30, 2026.
Winners will be announced in January 2027 and featured on The Storage Center's website, social media channels, and a national press release. The Storage Center also reaches out to each recipient's hometown media to help bring wider recognition to their work.
The Storage Center awards six Space to Succeed Scholarships each year, three in the fall and three in the spring. The Spring 2027 cycle opens April 1, 2027.
