The Training Farm Joins Fight Against Breast Cancer With New Final Cut Pro X Classes
10 percent of each course sold in October will be donated in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
NEW YORK, Oct. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- It only took one diagnosis to put an end to Jennifer Lebeau's care-free life as she knew it.
A young television producer and director, Jennifer had been diligent about her self-examinations after her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 32. When one of these routine exams turned up something that felt strange, she had no idea that in just 10 days she would have both her breasts removed to treat the Stage 2B cancer that was growing inside her.
Stories like Lebeau and her sister aren't as unusual as you'd think, and in actuality more than 70,000 Americans between the ages of 15 and 39 are diagnosed with cancer each year. Breast cancer, the most deadly of all cancers for women in this age range, accounts for about 15 percent of the total cancer diagnoses in younger people.
That's why in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The Training Farm will be donating 10 percent of every class purchased during the month of October to the Young Survival Coalition. The YSC works to raise awareness and provide support for young women diagnosed with breast cancer across the country.
And we're making it easy for everyone to participate. Just by booking a training course to learn essential media tools like Final Cut Pro X you can help make a difference for those struggling with this crippling illness.
"Having worked with Jennifer in the past, I couldn't imagine what a difficult experience this could be for her, especially in an industry that demands so much time and energy," said David Gater, CEO of The Training Farm. "She's really been an inspiration to me and so many others, which is why we wanted to give our customers and opportunity to give back. Groups like the Young Survival Coalition help ensure that there are more positive outcomes for people in Jennifer's position, and we feel it's important to support that."
For Lebeau, 2 years of painful chemo therapy, radiation treatment and various reconstructive surgeries have left doctors hopeful that she's seen the last of her cancer. Through a strong network of friends, family and her own positive attitude, she said she believes she was fortunate not only to catch the problem early but survive the experience despite the losses she's endured.
