The University of Texas at El Paso Welcomes NIH's All of Us Journey
EL PASO, Texas, Dec. 3, 2018 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and the National Alliance for Hispanic Health will host the National Institutes of Health's All of Us Research Program's traveling exhibit—the All of Us Journey—on Thursday, December 6, and from Tuesday, December 11th until Friday, December 15th, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the UTEP Undergraduate Learning Center (UGLC) Bldg. (500 West University Ave, El Paso, Texas 79968).
The hands-on exhibit raises awareness about the All of Us Research Program—an ambitious effort to gather data from 1 million or more people living in the United States, to advance individualized prevention, treatment and care for people of all backgrounds. People ages 18 and older, regardless of health status, will be able to enroll and share information for research.

With a population that is 83% Hispanic, El Paso is a window into the rapidly growing Hispanic community. This is important as there is minimal participation of Hispanics in biomedical, behavioral or social science research," Robert A. Kirken, Ph.D., College of Science Dean and principal investigator of UTEP's Border Biomedical Research Center (BBRC) explained. "Participation in research studies and clinical trials has tremendous implications for drug therapies and interventions which can make a huge difference in the health outcomes of our community. Our goal as health research scientists is to find ways to improve the quality of life of our community."
