SAN FRANCISCO, June 19, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) will announce its support for Major League Baseball's "Play Ball" initiative at a press conference on Saturday, June 20 at 11:30 am PT during its 83rd Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA. The program focuses on the fun nature of baseball and encourages widespread participation in baseball-related activities.
During the month of August 2015, in what is being considered "Play Ball Month" by the USCM, mayors will implement the initiative by hosting activities to encourage citizens, families and city departments to organize individual and community-based events, such as playing catch, "running bases" in the backyard, and other recreational activities. The goal of the program is to strengthen the connection between communities, especially urban and underserved areas, and the National Pastime.
