The Vehicle Production Group (VPG) Delivers MV-1 to Craig Hospital

DENVER, July 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Vehicle Production Group (VPG) today will deliver an MV-1 to Craig Hospital for the hospital's exclusive use in transporting wheelchair users.  VPG has set up an agreement with Denver's Craig Hospital to offer a complimentary MV-1 to the facility to showcase the car's capabilities and features for total mobility needs.

Craig Hospital specializes in the rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries.  Craig's use of the vehicle will be managed and supported by MV-1 of Colorado (Medved), Colorado's premier MV-1 dealership.   The MV-1 officially debuted in Colorado in March of this year when Medved hosted the MV-1 Grand Opening and Mobility Resource Fair. 

The MV-1 is the first vehicle purposely designed and built in support of wheelchair users.  Manufactured in Mishawaka, Indiana, at AM General's former Hummer facility, the car is factory-built and offered direct to consumers with no conversion requirements needed to accommodate wheelchair accessibility.

With a base price starting around $40,000, the MV-1 is typically 25% - 55% less expensive than a newly converted accessible van or SUV.  The car is delivered straight from the factory already 100% ADA compliant, with the fully automated access ramp built directly into car's floorboard.

With seating options for up to five passengers, of which two can be wheelchairs, the car will be used to transport patients to and from Craig's facilities.
