TALLMADGE, Ohio, April 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- S.D. Myers, Inc., based in Tallmadge, Ohio, announced today that five major companies in the transformer maintenance industry signed on as co-sponsors for its first Latin American Transformer Maintenance Symposium to be held June 21-23, 2011 at the Grand Paradise Bavaro resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
The participating sponsors, who will also serve as featured symposium presenters, include Cooper Power Systems, based in Waukesha, WI, providing Envirotemp™ dielectric fluids for the electrical utility and industrial markets; Electrical Reliability Testing Services (ERTS), based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, providing electrical engineering services including maintenance and testing services for electrical apparatus; Normandy Machine Co. (NMC), based in Troy, MO, the largest independent manufacturer of electrical contacts for LTC, OCB and switches; Power Asset Recovery Corp. (PARC), based in Canton, Ohio, one of the world's largest dealers for new surplus and reconditioned distribution and power transformers; and Transformadores Del Caribe Y Representaciones S.A. "With the growing Latin American economies and increasing demand for power, the need for reliable electric power and a stronger far reaching infrastructure has become paramount," says Alan Ross, S.D. Myers VP-Sales and Marketing. "The symposium will address this need by providing program content based on responses of leading Latin American electrical industry specialists from a comprehensive survey we recently administered."
As a result of the survey, the symposium's educational modules have been developed around four themes: Developing a Maintenance Strategy; Condition Assessment; Implementing a Maintenance Strategy; and Solutions and Technologies. The modules will be presented by international experts followed by open discussions and networking opportunities on "intelligent transformer management" between presenters and participants.
"Our goal for the symposium is for attendees to bring real-life issues with them and walk away with real-life solutions based on the collaborative knowledge and international expertise that will be shared," adds Ross.
