The Young Americans Inspire U.S. Military Children to 'Turn Up The Music'

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The California-based musical performance and advocacy group, The Young Americans, are gearing up to entertain hundreds of U.S. military families stationed in England.

From Feb. 27 through March 1, 2014, this non-profit international performance and music advocacy group will bring their "Turn Up The Music Workshop" to the children of servicemen and women stationed at RAF Alconbury and RAF Molesworth in Cambridgeshire, England, and present the military community a high powered performance – the group's first for a U.S. military audience.

"We are all thrilled to have The Young Americans here on base to work with our students," said Stephanie Burgess, the wife of Lt. Col Cornell Burgess, the 423rd Force Support Squadron commander at RAF Alconbury.

The Young Americans tour the world using music as their vehicle to inspire young people and audiences everywhere they go.

The group, which consists of 45 college-aged performers, will teach three-days of music outreach programs to fourth through twelfth grade Department of Defense Education Activity students including classes in singing, dancing and theatre performance. The events conclude with a professionally produced Broadway-type show in the RAF Alconbury Middle-High School Gymnasium featuring The Young Americans performing alongside the students in front of their families, members of the 501st Combat Support Wing and their Mission Partners, and the surrounding military and civilian communities.
