CHICAGO, Dec. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Third Coast Underwriters (3CU), a Chicago-based workers' compensation insurance provider, has committed a $20,000 donation to the Chicago Debate Commission (CDC) in support of two major Chicago high school debate tournaments in 2016, including the Local Circuit Conference (LCC) Championships in February. The donation represents 3CU's strong commitment to partnering with the CDC as it works with Chicago students to advance their learning and prepare for college and careers through rigorous debate activities.

The Third Coast Underwriters LCC Conference Championship will take place on February 19-20, 2016 at Lindblom Math & Science Academy.

The Chicago Debate Commission (CDC) was founded in 1995 to advance the academic achievement, life success and community contributions of urban youth by providing them with powerful skills in reading, research, critical thinking, civic engagement, teamwork and communications – all through the mechanism of academic debate. In 1997, in partnership with Chicago Public Schools, the CDC launched debate in Chicago with five high schools and 35 students. Now, the program has grown to 72 schools with 1,400 students. It is the largest program of its kind in the country and a model for urban debate leagues nationwide.
