Thompson & Knight Names Mark M. Sloan as Firm's Next Managing Partner

DALLAS, Nov. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP today announced Mark M. Sloan has been named Managing Partner of the Firm effective February 2016. Emily A. Parker will continue to serve as the Firm's Managing Partner until Sloan officially takes office next year.

Sloan's nearly 20 year career at Thompson & Knight began as a Summer Associate in 1989. During his time at Thompson & Knight, he has served as an Associate and Partner in and Practice Leader of the Firm's Real Estate and Banking Practice Group. He also has served as a member of the Firm's Management Committee. He succeeds Emily Parker, the Firm's first-ever female Managing Partner who will resume full-time her nationally renowned tax controversy practice.

In addition to his new duties, Sloan will continue to serve clients through his thriving real estate practice, which focuses primarily on various types of real estate lending transactions, real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and real estate development. He has represented lenders in virtually all types of real estate financings, and also has extensive experience in representing lenders in connection with workouts and foreclosures. Sloan also represents multiple clients in connection with their acquisition, development, and operation of retail shopping centers. Another major part of his practice focuses on industrial warehouse and multifamily development.
