The transaction, expected to be completed in early October, will result in Thompson Coburn having more than 350 attorneys working in Chicago, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Southern Illinois, and Washington, D.C.
The firm is launching its new office by combining with Freedman Weisz LLP, a 10-attorney firm based in Los Angeles. The combination enhances Thompson Coburn's coast-to-coast legal offerings for its many public and private clients, a large number of whom are located in California. Clients already served by Thompson Coburn include the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Orange County Transportation Authority and Foothill Transit; the cities of Anaheim, Azusa, Banning, Colton, Pasadena, Riverside and Roseville; Neu Investment; Kawasaki; and a number of high net worth individuals in Southern California.
For Freedman Weisz, a widely-respected firm in Los Angeles with a diverse practice in Southern California, the move provides access to the resources and support of one of the largest law firms in the Midwest.
