Three Companies Remain to Vie for Cash Prizes in Business Plan Competition

Winner of the North of Boston Business Plan Competition to be named on April 11

SALEM, Mass., March 31, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- It's down to three.  The finalists in the 2011 North of Boston Business Plan Competition (hosted by the Enterprise Center at Salem State University) couldn't be more different, but all are welcome additions to the regional economy.  On Monday, April 11, one of these companies will take home top honors; all are winners.

  • Groupize LLC, Gloucester, MA, provides state-of-the art group travel planning, booking and socializing.

  • Notch Session Ale, Ipswich, MA, is capitalizing on the popularity of craft beers by introducing a lower-alcohol beer that British pubs call session ale because people can enjoy a longer socializing "session" without becoming inebriated.

  • Tides Medical, LLC, Marblehead, MA, sells high-quality, complex orthopedic implants for joint and spinal surgery directly to hospitals.

All three will present their plans to an audience of judges, regional business leaders and interested onlookers on Monday, April 11th in the recital hall on the Salem State University central campus.  The public is invited to attend this free event and the reception that follows. The judges will announce the winners of the cash prizes—$5,000 to the first place winner, $3,000 second prize and $2,000 third prize will be awarded, immediately following the presentations.
