  2. Prepare or update your Financial and Healthcare Powers of Attorney. "It is very important that you designate a person to make financial and healthcare decisions for you in the event that a health condition or an accident leaves you unable to make them yourself," Cosimano explains. "If you don't, the court may set up a formal conservatorship or guardianship."
  3. Review and organize your personal information. "This is incredibly useful for a trusted family member or close friend to reference in case something happens to you."
