Three of Veolia's municipal community partners recognized at the 2015 Massachusetts Public Water Systems Awards

BOSTON, May 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The City of Gloucester, City of Lynn and the Town of Sturbridge public water systems receive awards from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection for recent achievements and superior performance in 2014.

• Gloucester DPW Water Department — With its recent completion of $35 million in infrastructure improvements, the City of Gloucester received a 'Recognition Award' acknowledging its commitment to maintaining high-quality drinking water and improving its public water system.  The city also hosted a 'Rededication' ceremony and tour at the West Gloucester Water Treatment Plant commemorating the recently completed water system improvements, including treatment plants, pumping stations, water storage facilities, a critical water supply dam, and key water mains.  "As the city's O&M partner, Veolia has operated the city's potable water and wastewater treatment facilities since 2009, helping support the city's infrastructure improvements and maintain drinking water quality for our community," said Director of Public Works Michael Hale.
• Sturbridge Water Department — Underscoring its exceptional performance in 2014, Sturbridge was awarded with a 'Medium and Large Community' award, acknowledging the Town's commitment to compliance and the quality of its public water system. "For over a quarter century, Veolia has worked in partnership with the town to provide quality water and wastewater services," remarked Director of Public Works Greg Morse.
• Lynn Water and Sewer Commission — The City of Lynn was also awarded a 'Medium and Large Community' award for its excellent drinking water compliance record in the last year.  "Since 1987, Veolia has served the city of Lynn, providing O&M services for its wastewater plant and water treatment plant," said Dan O'Neill, executive director of the Lynn Water and Sewer Commission. "Through this decades-long partnership with Veolia, the city of Lynn has continued to deliver reliable, high-quality and cost-effective services for residents, while achieving numerous awards for safety and operational excellence."
