SAN DIEGO, Oct. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, workout guru Jillian Michaels joined Thrive Market and hundreds of active military service members and their families on the USS Midway aircraft carrier for a workout and a conversation about the importance of healthy eating. The event was held in partnership with Blue Star Families (BSF), a nonprofit organization serving military service members and their families across the globe and Thrive Market, an e-commerce shopping club that makes healthy products affordable to everyone at wholesale prices. Through Thrive Market's membership matching program, every paid membership on the site sponsors a free membership for military family member or veteran, a low-income family, teacher, or student. Thrive Market is giving away 50,000 memberships to military families and veterans in the next year as part of a larger campaign focused on the military community's health.
Many active military, military families and veterans face health issues ranging from physical injuries to mental health challenges. Eating a healthy diet is an important part of maintaining mental and physical health for those who are working hard to serve our country. Jillian spoke to the group about healthy living, led the group in a workout, and talked about her passion for expanding access to healthy food for all.
