Timken Awards Scholarships Valued at $790,000 to 38 Employees' Children

CANTON, Ohio, April 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR; www.timken.com) today awarded scholarships to 38 children of Timken employees at 26 locations in eight countries around the world. The Timken Company Charitable and Educational Fund, Inc., funds the scholarships, with a combined value of $310,000 and a total value of up to $790,000 over four years. The program has awarded more than $20 million in scholarships since its founding in 1958.

Timken Company chairman of the board Ward J. "Tim" Timken, Jr. visited North Canton (Ohio) Hoover High School today and presented senior Mitchell Fabian with a $50,000 college scholarship worth up to $200,000. The $50,000 Henry Timken Scholar Award recognizes the top-ranked applicant. Renewable for up to three additional years for a total of $200,000, it goes to Mitchell Fabian, the son of Robert Fabian, a Timken retiree from steel manufacturing at the Timken facilities in Canton. Mitchell, a graduating senior at Hoover High School in North Canton, Ohio, plans to study actuarial science at Drake University.

Selected for $30,000 scholarships, renewable for up to three additional years for a total of $120,000 each:

Hariharan Rangarajan, the son of Ramakrishnan Rangarajan, training and environmental health and safety principal at the Timken facility in Chennai, India, and a senior at Mahindra World School in Chengalpet, India. Hariharan plans to study mechanical engineering at the University of Akron.
Madison Williams, the daughter of David Williams, manager for organizational advancement at the Timken offices in Canton, and a senior at Jackson High School in Massillon, Ohio. Madison plans to study pre-medicine/nursing at Clemson University; and

Five students received $10,000 scholarships, renewable for up to three additional years for a total of $40,000 each:

Shawna Cook, the daughter of Shawn Cook, process associate for manufacturing at the Timken facility in Honea Path, S.C., and a senior at Belton-Honea Path High School, plans to study genetics at Clemson University;
Natalie Groff, the daughter of Michael Groff, manager of financial reporting and analysis at the Timken offices in Canton, and a senior at Jackson High School in Massillon, Ohio, plans to study biology at the University of Mount Union;
Sydney Katz, the daughter of Steven Katz, manager of operations at the Timken facility in Akron, Ohio, and a senior at Revere High School in Richfield, Ohio, plans to study electrical engineering at Washington University;
Anna Wade, the daughter of Charles Wade, manager of finishing at the Timken offices in Canton, and a senior at Louisville High School in Louisville, Ohio, plans to study chemical engineering at Ohio State University;
Jonathan Wittmer, the son of Timothy Wittmer, business process manager for demand planning at the Timken offices in Canton, and a senior at Lake Center Christian School in Hartville, Ohio, plans to study aerospace engineering at the University of Akron;
