Tishman Construction completes Chicago Public Schools renovations in time for start of school year

CHICAGO, Sept. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Tishman Construction, an AECOM company, announced today that it has completed six major public school renovations for the Public Building Commission of Chicago. Finished on a fast-track, six-week schedule, this US$13-million summer capital improvement contract included renovations of six elementary schools: Edward C. Delano, Edward K. Ellington, John Milton Gregory, Helen M. Heffernan, Horatio N. May and George W. Tilton.

Across more than 600,000 square feet of academic space, outdated school buildings were transformed into state-of-the-art learning facilities to provide students with cutting-edge technology and tools. The interior renovations feature new computer labs, media centers, science labs and nearly 120 classrooms. In addition, fully operational air conditioning systems were installed throughout each school, creating an improved learning environment necessary in these facilities. Furthermore, accessibility upgrades and a new security system were provided at John Milton Gregory Elementary School.

As a result of the Chicago Public School's commitment to new learning technologies, each student received an iPad on the first day of school to utilize in the newly constructed, high-tech facilities of each elementary school.
