BOSTON, Dec. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate its 10th Anniversary, Tivoli Audio sponsored an international graphic design competition open to designers, illustrators, photographers, and students from around the world. Nearly 3,000 designers registered for the contest and design entries based on the Model 10 radio and the Tivoli audio logo were received from 95 countries worldwide. The winning design came from Huan Miao Khoo, age 24, a Malaysian citizen, who is completing his Master of Architecture degree at the University of Sydney in Australia. Mr. Khoo's design features the Tivoli Audio Model 10, its commemorative 10th anniversary radio, opening like a gift box, revealing meshed wires and a violinist inside.
Beginning December 1, the first place winning design will be posted on a 31' x 98' billboard over the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square (Broadway at 45th Street) in New York City, and will remain on display during the month of December 2010, until the ball drops on New Year's Eve. The second place winning design was submitted from Italy and the third place winning design came from the UK. Tivoli Audio also awarded a cash stipend to the top three winners of $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000 respectively.
"It is only fitting that a company that has been so devoted to making design an integral part of its audio products, would invite designers to join Tivoli Audio in marking its 10th Anniversary," said Tom DeVesto, Tivoli Audio CEO and founder. "We were pleased with the response to the competition, making the final selection challenging."
According to Mr. Khoo, "The inspiration behind the design is that the ultimate goal for audio technology is to push its limits, allowing the listeners to close their eyes and indulge. The aim was to imagine that a group of musicians were performing live inside of the radio, capturing Tivoli Audio from its inner core perspective."
In honor of Tivoli Audio's 10th Anniversary Year, the Model 10 was created as a beautifully designed, high fidelity digital AM/FM clock audio system in a palette of real furniture grade woods and premium high-gloss finishes. The Model 10 comes in a "Contemporary Collection" featuring Walnut, Cherry, Ocean Blue, Midnight Black, and Carmine Red. The commemorative "Celebration Edition" in Light Aluminum and Anodized Aluminum marks Tivoli Audio's 10th Anniversary Year. The "Designer Collection" features Lines, Chestnut Brown and Frost White designs. It is expandable with an auxiliary input for a CD player, iPhone, iPod or other MP3 player, as well as a mix audio input and record, headphone, and subwoofer outputs.
The Model 10 in the "Contemporary Collection" and the "Celebration Edition" are suggested to retail for $199.99 and $299.99 in stereo with matching companion speaker. The Model 10 "Designer Collection" is suggested to retail for $249.99 and $379.99 in stereo with matching companion speaker.
