Torneio CrossFit Brasil reaches its seventh edition

SAO PAULO, Sept. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today the 2016 Torneio CrossFit Brasil (TCB - 'Brazil CrossFit Tournament') begins in the city of Barueri, seeking to find the most fit man and woman in the country.

On September 2^nd 3^rd and 4^th, 107 athletes (including 19 Masters – over the age of 40 ) from all over the country will be tested in 9 challenging trials that will push them to their bodies' maximum limit.

The event, which has been organized by CrossFit Brasil since 2010, is the most important of its kind in the country, and one of the leading examples in Latin America. With the sponsorship of Reebok Brasil, For Time Fit Equipamentos and Progenex Suplementos, it also has the support of Rocktape, CrossX, Auraclara, Sao Paulo Ortopedia, the Municipal Government of Barueri and PR Newswire.

The athletes have qualified in Regional Eliminations held in all regions of Brazil.

"For this year, the most significant new elements will be the inclusion of the Master category, and a setting up of the second arena in the parking area adjoining the Jose Correa Gymnasium," says Thales Antoniolli, organizer of the TCB.

The trials that will identify the most fit man and woman in Brazil have already been announced, and they combine elements of Olympic weightlifting, gymnastic exercises and also trials focusing on the athletes' cardiorespiratory endurance.

"Due to the evolution of the athletes and the number of events in the country, this year the TCB will feature more innovative trials, as well as equipment never used before in competitions in Brazil," explains Joel Fridman, technical director of the event and owner of the first affiliated gym in the country.

The number of official gyms in Brazil has surpassed 600 units, as reflected in the more than 60 gyms represented at TCB 2016.

Created in the United States in 1995, and brought to Brazil by Joel Fridman, CrossFit has become popular due to its dynamic exercise routine, and now has more than 13,000 gyms in the world, with more than 600 in Brazil. With its functional movements, it is differentiated by the performance of exercise that is always varied and executed at high intensity. In the U.S., it is the main strength and conditioning program at police academies and for training of the armed forces.
