TORONTO, June 9 /PRNewswire/ - Toronto will welcome the world to the G20 Toronto Summit on June 26 and 27, 2010. The G20 in Toronto will bring world leaders and international media to one of the most diverse cities in the world that stands proud as a well established environmental leader, is the heart of Canada's financial sector, and enjoys a thriving tourism/convention, arts and cultural scene.
To help media cover the G20 Summit in Toronto, b-roll video of the city will be distributed via satellite on June 10, 2010 (June 10 & 11 for U.S. markets). The 10 minute b-roll has footage of the Toronto skyline, waterfront and world renowned CN Tower, the downtown business core and financial district, Toronto's diverse neighbourhoods, and aerial views of the city. Technical details for this download are available below. The b-roll is available in HD format upon request. The b-roll video footage is a selection from existing Tourism Toronto footage and is representative of Toronto's diversity, culture and place in the world as a global financial centre.
In the weeks leading up to the Summit, the City, Tourism Toronto and Invest Toronto have worked together to provide opportunities to media to visit and learn more about what Toronto has to offer. Various tours and opportunities to meet directly with the city's business, political and other leaders will give media an excellent vantage point from which to consider Toronto's leadership role in the world. While media are in Toronto during the G20 Summit, the City and its tourism and investment partners will also be available to meet with media and continue highlighting all that the city offers.
A special website has also been set up for the world's media to quickly get the information they need about Toronto. Media can visit: www.g20torontomedia.com. During the G20 media can call 416-397-0777 to reach City staff for assistance with information on City programs, Toronto's business, financial and investment sectors and culture and tourism matters. Media can also see City staff in the media centre for more information.
With one of the most stable banking and financial sectors in the world, Toronto is Canada's largest city and has a population of about 2.6 million residents that proudly represent more than 100 cultures that speak more than 140 languages. Toronto also boasts the third largest transit system in North America, carrying some 472 million people each year.
Toronto is also a member of the C40 Group of major international cities committed to tackling climate change. Toronto Mayor David Miller has been Chair of the C40 since June 4, 2008.
Toronto's cultural scene has made the city a vibrant, liveable place - one of North America's best for theatre, ballet, the opera, museums, art galleries and festivals. Toronto is also home to professional basketball, soccer, baseball and hockey teams. World renowned attractions include the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum, the National Ballet of Canada and the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts (opera).
