Toss It. Dress It. Give It.: Newman's Own Salad Dressing Serves Up First-Ever "Greens For Good" Recipe Contest

WESTPORT, Conn., Aug. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Newman's Own -- the brand that donates all profits to charity -- today announced the first-ever Newman's Own Salad Dressing "Greens for Good" Recipe Contest, empowering salad aficionados to share their favorite salad recipe/dressing pairing and nominate a nonprofit organization to receive another kind of green: a $35,000 donation. 

Beginning on August 26, consumers can visit www.facebook.com/NewmansOwn and click on the Greens for Good tab to enter their original salad creation and Newman's Own Salad Dressing pairing.

No stranger to good food or good philanthropy, James Beard Award-Winning Chef and "Top Chef" Judge Hugh Acheson will serve as spokesperson for the contest, creating a special salad recipe to serve as inspiration for consumers.  "I've always believed that food has the power to connect and inspire people," said Acheson.  "The Newman's Own charitable mission is one that I wholeheartedly support, and having the opportunity to give back and encouraging others to do the same is incredibly rewarding for me." 

On November 12, 2014, Newman's Own will announce the $35,000 grand prize winner and charity, as well as four runners-up, who will each direct $1,000 donations to their selected nonprofit organizations.

All eligible recipes in the Newman's Own "Greens for Good" Contest will be judged by a panel of experts based upon nutrition, creativity and ease of preparation. The top five finalists will be posted online for public voting to help determine the top four finalists and the Grand Prize winners.
